We all have a past with things that we are proud of, and maybe something we’re not so proud of. Either way, they make you who you are today. For many people, the bad things in our lives seem to reign supreme, but at some point, something must give for you to live out the fullness of your life. There are two choices to choose from either you’re going to live a defeated life or a life on purpose. Another way to look at it is either the negative parts of your past is going to be your ruler or the present is going to be the light that helps propel you to the future of new hope and beginnings.
Two quotes that remind me of two things the power of words has on a person, and if you are a negative person, you will create an unwanted enemy.
- “When there is no enemy within, the enemies outside cannot hurt you.”- African Proverb
- “The man who says he can, and the man who says he can’t…. Are both correct” -Confucius
To live out the new version of you, you must remove all the negativity out of your life and work on the parts of you that need to be rebuilt to be a stronger person. It’s not something that automatically happens. You must begin encouraging yourself through reading uplifting books, stories, and quotes. To begin to pray for help and guidance. Sometimes journaling helps to at least being able to write. When you being to change your mindset, it probably will not get rid of the enemy inside, but the amount of positivity and encouragement will make the voiceless prominent in your life.
I used to say you can literal think yourself into a depression then it means you can think yourself out of a depression. It derives from the quote from Confucius whatever you choose to say to yourself good or bad you begin to conform to those ideas of yourself. So why not say positive things about yourself and go forward in life than saying negative things to yourself that will stunt your own growth and possibilities.
You definitely cannot change the past, but you can become a healthier version of you. The choice is yours……. What will be your next decision???
