You DEFINE YOU!

I want to start this post by saying I am grateful for the people who challenge me to think and see myself differently.

One of my favorite quotes from Les Brown is “‎someone’s opinion of you does not have to become your reality.” Change is good. It is not always the best feeling, but sometimes necessary to get to your destiny. Being stagnant will sometimes cause distance from your current place and the place that you are called into. I face mental health challenges, and I have had times where I responded to situations in an unhealthy manner. It has caused some people to look at me differently to where my mental health challenges seem to define me. The thing is they don’t. One more time, they don’t define you. I am aware that some people are going to keep their opinion about you, but that does not have anything to do with you. It is crucial to stay on your path and make the changes that you need to make in your life to get to the life you deserve. It is hard. But just like Les Brown quote, other people’s opinion should not affect your growth by becoming your reality. Mother Theresa has a poem called Do it Anyway, and even though it is not a verse in the poem, I want to add. People will have something to say about you but continue to grow as a person anyway. Negativity is around us every day, but don’t let that stop you from the necessary steps you need to take to become a better you.
